Maybe given all his upcoming roles, he simply won’t have the time juggle all those and Gossip Girl? Leighton Meester is a single Gossip Girl once more.

A source close to the 24-year-old actress confirms to UsMagazine.com that she has broken up with actor Sebastian Stan, 26, her boyfriend since 2008.

“They are still friends,” the source tells Us. “It was amicable. They still talk all the time.”

Meester and Stan met — and made out — on the set of her show Gossip Girl, where Stan occasionally guest-stars as Carter Baizen.

For Valentine’s Day 2009, they enjoyed a couples’ retreat in Jamaica with fellow Gossip Girl pair Jessica Szhor and Ed Westwick. Last October, Meester gushed to Buzznet about a romantic gift — a painting — from Stan, whom she called her “best friend” and “boyfriend.”

“He told the artist about me, my favorite colors and poetry and she painted a large very special abstract work I have hanging in my dining room,” she said.

It seems that one of Gossip Girl’s many real-life romances is over: Leighton Meester and her boyfriend (and sometime co-star) Sebastian Stan have split, a friend of the actress-musician tells OK!.

So why the split now, when things seemed to be going so well? Leighton called it quits, because she “doesn’t know how to be in a relationship and doesn’t really like them,” explains the insider.

And since Leighton was the one doing the dumping, Sebastian isn’t taking it too well, with our source saying he’s “heartbroken” by Leighton’s decision to end the relationship.

Leighton’s reps have not responded to OK!’s request for comment yet.

One of the films we’re most excited for this year is Darren Aronofsky’s “Black Swan,” especially considering its starring two of our favorite leading ladies, Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis (who may or may not get involved onscreen!). But “Black Swan” is also starring one of the luckiest men in Hollywood right now, Sebastian Stan.

There little information known about Sebastian’s character (he doesn’t even have a name on IMDB). So when MTV got a chance to chat with him recently (yeah, we can talk about his questionable hair do in the video at a later point in time), he was willing to share some details on his character. Unfortunately, he went about it in a very roundabout way.

“It’s kind of like your guy that if you go into a Manhattan bar on a Friday night, and you see a couple of guys and they had like maybe long weeks, and then they go out and they’re hoping to have a night or whatever and they end up like stumbling into a crazy storyline between two girls,” he explained about his character.

He added that he and the other guys his characters are friends with “kind of get wrapped up in it for a while,” and that “technically” he is one of the romantic interests for Natalie Portman’s and Mila Kunis’ characters.

Sebastian shot “Black Swan” for about two weeks back in December and called it a “really unique experience.” We’re sure it was a bit different than working on “Gossip Girl,” and will definitely be a lot different than working on the set of “Captain America.”

“Black Swan” tells the story of one veteran New York City ballerina named Nina (Natalie) who is tormented by a rival named Lilly (Mila) who may or may not be a figment of her imagination.

Let it be known, being a Hollywood Crush Hump Day Hottie is a sure-fire was of promising Hollywood success. When Sebastian Stan reemerged on “Gossip Girl” way back in September ’09 as troublemaker lothario Carter Baizen, we gave the hunk the aforementioned title with the hope “he’ll be sticking around and not saying ‘XOXO’ anytime soon.”

Little did we know what a whirlwind career for the young star we had created! He parted ways with Serena on “Gossip Girl,” but got a chance to appear in “Hot Tub Time Machine” along comedic greats like John Cusack and Craig Robinson as the character Blaine.

But don’t worry, our good will didn’t stop there. Back in January, Sebastian signed to join the cast of “The Apparition.” For those of you who forget, the film also brings together “Twilight” star Ashley Greene and “Harry Potter” villain Tom Felton. A clash of the titans indeed! If anything will bring Sebastian to the public eye (of women worldwide), it’s being featured along one of the first mainstream crossovers of the “Twilight” and “Harry Potter” franchises — two of the series we cover the most often at Hollywood Crush, we’d like to add!

If that wasn’t enough, it was announced today that Sebastian would be starring as James Buchanan “Bucky” Barnes in “The First Avenger: Captain America.” Not only does that mean he’ll get to earn movie-going men’s affection as well, but he also gets to star opposite Chris Evans and Hugo Weaving. And then, since he signed on for the role of Bucky in five to six additional Marvel films, it means he gets to be a part of the Marvel mash-up in 2011′s “The Avengers”! The lucky 26-year-old will get to star alongside Robert Downey Jr., Samuel L. Jackson, (probably) Edward Norton and what promises to be a whole slew more.

So, you’re welcome, Sebastian Stan. We knew you had it in you. We’ll be waiting for a “Thank you” letter and our cut of your future successes (Jesse Eisenberg, we’re still waiting on you, too). And to all you other Hump Day Hotties out there, you just wait. Your time is near!!

EXCLUSIVE: Now that Marvel Studios and director Joe Johnston have set Chris Evans to play the title role in The First Avenger: Captain America, the other roles have begun to fall into place. Sebastian Stan is about to be fill the role of Bucky, the sidekick who fights side by side with the shield-throwing superhero. Stan is best known for Gossip Girl and he just completed the Darren Aronofsky-directed Black Swan and the Todd Lincoln-directed The Apparition. He also was just seen playing the nemesis in Hot Tub Time Machine. Studio confirmed Stan will be in the film in a deal that has multiple options, but there is no confirmation on whether Bucky transforms into Winter Soldier, as is the case in the Marvel Comics version. Marvel is also close to setting the female lead role of Peggy, and recently tested Keira Knightley, Alice Eve and Emily Blunt for that role

If you were one of the few people who saw Hot Tub Time Machine last weekend you got a glimpse of actor Sebastian Stan. He played a paranoid douche bag named Blaine, but in real life he was one of the many guys in line to star as Captain America when the role was up for grabs a few weeks ago. In the end, the part went to Chris Evans, but he’s not sad because he just got cast as Cap’s sidekick, Bucky Barnes.

According to THR, Stan has been confirmed by Marvel to play Barnes but they wouldn’t specify in what capacity. The character has an interesting background in the comics so it’s hard to say how his role will play out in the film. Originally, he’s a teenage orphan, who’s too young to join the army but becomes the camp’s mascot. When he discovers Captain America’s identity, he joins him as a partner in his Nazi-fighting escapades.

That’s all fine and dandy, but he eventually died only to be brought back to life a few years ago as the character Winter Soldier, a covert assassin. We don’t know which storyline they’re going with but I’m leaning towards the older Bucky, Stan’s no spring chicken.

We’re also hearing that he’s signed on for 5 or 6 more films, which means he too could be making an appearance in The Avengers. But until then filming on Captain America starts this summer in Europe.
